Eskil Roos

Eskil Roos is a devoted pianist and composer with a thorough education and experience in music. He has studied at St Sigfrid Folk High School, at the Estonian Academy of Music and Arts under the guidance of Kristjan Randalu, and at the Malmö Academy of Music, where he was guided by the renowned pianist Jan Lundgren. Jan Lundgren describes the way Eskil plays as “unusually emotionally mature” and predicts a promising future for him in the world of music.

Eskil has taken a deep dive into Nordic jazz, a subject he explored in depth in his bachelor's thesis and is now exploring further in his master's thesis through a book on Nordic and modern jazz piano. His musical practice is marked by a strong grounding in improvisation, jazz piano, rhythm, composition and methodology. He has also received several prestigious scholarships, including the Lund culture scholarship, the local scholarship of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, the Lions Club culture scholarship and the Rotary Club music scholarship.

As a pianist, Eskil has played in several bands, both his own and those of others, and he has also worked as a pianist for a choir. He has broad experience of teaching and has helped his private students gain admission to music programmes, including folk high schools. Eskil attaches great importance to helping his students find their passion for music. He strives to challenge his students, so that they feel they are developing and have something to get their teeth into.

For students who are interested in pop piano and in learning to accompany, Eskil also has solid experience in harmony and chord playing. He is skilled at teaching how to play songs by ear and how to build a strong foundation in chord progressions and rhythm. Eskil has an ability to adapt his teaching to the student's goals and circumstances, which makes his lessons both engaging and rewarding.
